Community Theater Shakespeare Reading Series Henry IV - part 1 |
Lord John of Lancaster sums up Henry IV Part 1 well, with his comment "This is the strangest tale that ever I heard." Act IV, Scene 4.
This story continues the events of Henry Bolingbroke and the lords of England
after Henry becomes Henry IV. The story is probably more famous for introducing
the character of Falstaff, the "fat-kidneyed rascal" to the world.
Sir John Falstaff is a man who truly believes that "the better part of
valour is discretion" (Act V, Scene 4).
